Ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer (EAA) has been demonstrated to be a suitable additive for modifying the properties of asphalt. EAA mixed with metal hydroxides/oxides form EAA-M ionomers, which increase the polarity of EAA, improving its adhesive properties and affecting its mechanical and rheological characteristics. The present work investigates the mechanical and rheological characteristics ...

Ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) is one of most used polymer modifiers in PMAs. EA/EVA blends were prepared with the addition of EVA in asphalts. The effects of EVA on the morphology evolution of EA were investigated by laser ...

3.2. Kinematic Viscosity. Rotational viscosity experiment outcomes displayed that the refined asphalt viscosity boosts linearly together with the growing of ELTs, EVA, and SBS concentration as shown in Figure 2.It can be seen that the effects of modifier properties on modified asphalt represented by ELTs, EVA, and SBS-modified asphalt binders are basically different.

Abstract -Polymer modified bitumen is to provide extra life to pavement, roads and construction designs. The polymer that is added is to modify the properties of bitumen are styrene butadiene styrene (SBS) and Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) both of these polymers acts as a binder modification agent. The aim

SBS modified binder produces asphalt with significantly improved flexibility and improved resistance to deformation, despite a reduction in stiffness or modulus. Although less commonly used, EVA is also an established conventional polymer modifier for asphalt production. EVA modified binders produce asphalt with significantly improved

Results of conducted tests on the modified asphalt binders with 5%, 10%, and 15% gilsonite show that using gilsonite improves performance of stone-mastic asphalt mixtures (Babagoli et al. 2015). Gilsonite was added to the biobinder, and rheological characterization of each bio-modified gilsonite (BMG) sample was then conducted to investigate ...

Effect of aggregate types on the performance of neat and EVA-modified asphalt mixtures. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of bitumen modification with varying percentage of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) for preparing the hot-mix asphalt containing various aggregates (marble, granite and quartzite) and compare the results with mixes prepared with neat viscosity grade 30.

3.1. Performance and processability of binder modified by EVA copolymer The influence of EVA copolymer on the binder viscosity has been studied by means of steady shear flow tests at 60 °C and 135 °C (Fig. 1). The selection of 60 °C was based on the average asphalt temperature expected in a warm

Preparation of EVA copolymer modified bitumen: The modified binders were prepared at 180°C and a speed of 600 rpm using a high shear mixer. While preparing EVA modified binders, 600 g of the bitumen was melted and poured into a 2000 mL spherical flask. Upon reaching 175°C, the powdered EVA polymer was added to the bitumen.

This study aims to explore the laboratory performance of APAO (Amorphous Poly Alpha Olefin) and EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer) compound modified asphalt. Four EVA concentrations (i.e., 0% ...

Compared with base asphalt, the properties of CR/EVA modified asphalt have been greatly improved. The formulae which were fitted out by Matlab software showed that the shearing time was the foremost factor affecting the properties of CR/EVA modified asphalt, followed by shearing temperature, and the last was shearing rate.

advantages and disadvantages as asphalt modifiers. As it was shown, many different polymers are used to modify asphalts and each has their own associated physical properties. For example, ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA) stiffens the asphalt, much like a hard plastic, so it is considered a plastomer. Styrene butadiene (SB) and styrene butadiene
